Redmi K90 Pro to feature 50MP periscope telephoto camera

In November 2024, Redmi launched the Redmi K80 series of smartphones in China. The lineup consists of two models: the Redmi K80 and Redmi K80 Pro, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Snapdragon 8 Elite chipsets, respectively. These devices are expected to be succeeded by the Redmi K90 and Redmi K90 Pro in the fourth quarter of this year. Interestingly, the first details about the alleged Redmi K90 Pro have already surfaced, courtesy of a new leak from the reliable tipster Digital Chat Station.

Redmi K90 Pro’s first details leaked

In the above leak, the tipster is seen talking about the Pro variant of a sub-series. While he has not mentioned the name of the device, it appears that he could be talking about the Redmi K90 Pro.

The leak suggests that the Redmi K90 Pro will be an all-rounder phone equipped with a top-notch display, a powerful chipset, and a versatile camera setup. DCS revealed that the device will be equipped with a flat OLED panel that offers a 2K resolution.

Under the hood, the device will be equipped with the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 chipset. It will be the first K-series flagship phone to feature a 50-megapixel periscope telephoto camera.

While he did not reveal anything about the Redmi K90, it is likely to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC. While the K80 Pro features a telephoto camera, the K80 lacks a dedicated camera for optical zoom. It remains to be seen whether the K90 comes equipped with a telephoto camera.

The Redmi K80 and K80 Pro are expected to get rebranded as the Poco F7 Pro and Poco F7 Ultra, respectively, in markets outside of China. Therefore, the Poco F8 Pro and Poco F8 Pro, which are expected to launch in 2026, could be rebranded versions of the Redmi K90 and K90 Pro.
