Redmi had held a launch event yesterday to announce the Redmi Note 7 smartphone that comes equipped with 48-megapixel Samsung GM1 sensor. In February, it will be selling Redmi Note 7 Pro that will be featuring a different primary camera of Sony IMX586 48-megapixel. On Weibo, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun was asked whether the Note 7 is the top phone from the company, he replied that there will be a Redmi phone powered by Snapdragon 855.
The ex-President of Gionee Group Lu Weibing who has the industry experience of 20 years will be leading the Redmi brand. The new brand along with Xiaomi will dual brand strategy. Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 5G arriving in Q1 this year will be the company’s first Snapdragon 855 powered smartphone. The forthcoming Mi line models are expected to come with advanced specs and pricing whereas the Redmi lineup will include cost-effective models. Jun confirmed that there will be a Redmi flagship phone with Snapdragon 855 chipset. The handset will be carrying a price tag of 2,500 Yuan ($368). As of now, there is no confirmation on when it will be releasing in the market
At the launch of Redmi Note 7, Jun reveal until Q3 2018, the company ha sold 278 million Redmi phones across the globe. He added that the Redmi brand is focused on the online market. It will include cost-effective smartphones with topnotch quality.
