While the key highlight of the entire event was no doubt the Ultra flagship model, but the Galaxy S22 and S22+ are also two exceptional models with plenty to offer. Without further ado, let’s check out what the new Galaxy S22 and S22+ have in store for us!

Samsung Galaxy S22+

Starting with the higher-end model, we have the Galaxy S22+ which now sports a slightly smaller 6.6” display as compared to the 6.7” display on the Galaxy S21+. The phone will however, retains the high-end Dynamic AMOLED 2x panel that features a FHD+ screen resolution and a smooth 120Hz adaptive refresh rate that automatically switches between 10Hz to 120Hz according to onscreen contents. With a peak brightness of 1,750 nits, the front display is also much brighter than what we saw on last year’s model.

Flipping the phone over, we’ll be greeted by a familiar-looking, contour-cut camera design which houses a versatile triple-cam unit lead by a brand new 50MP Samsung GN5 main camera with a large 1/1.57” sensor size and 1.0 micrometer pixel size. This will be supplemented by a 12 megapixels ultra-wide camera and a 10 megapixels telephoto lens capable of achieving 3x optical zoom.

Hardware aside, Samsung also claimed that it’s camera system will be aided by latest AI technology such as AI Stereo Depth Map which allows users to take perfect portrait photos with ”even the smallest details appearing crisp and clear.” Finally, let’s not forget that the phone also has a 10 megapixels front-facing camera for handling selfie and video calls.

Like any other Galaxy S22 series smartphones launched in Singapore, the Galaxy S22+ will be powered by a 4nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. That’s something interesting considering that the local models are usually launched with the company’s in-house flagship Exynos platform.

Other than that, the phone is also backed by a respectable 4,000mAh battery which carries support for 25W fast-charging. In terms of software, the Galaxy S22+ will be shipped with the new One UI 4.0 based on Android 12 right off the box.

Moving on to the vanilla model, it shares largely identical specs as the Galaxy S22+ except for the differences in their display as well as battery capacity. Firstly, the Galaxy S22 down the 6.6” display size on the S22+ to just 6.1”. Nonetheless, it’s still the same Dynamic AMOLED 2x panel which shares the same FHD+ screen resolution and 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, even though it’s peak brightness drops to 1,300 nits.

Secondly, the Galaxy S22 also features a trimmed-down 3,700mAh battery capacity which shouldn’t lead to much differences in terms of battery life since the phone has a smaller display as compared to the Plus model.
