Samsung, the world’s largest smartphone maker, revealed that the company has shipped a total of 6.7 million 5G smartphones in 2019. This makes them the biggest provider of 5G smartphones in 2019 with an overall market share of 53.9%.
A total of five 5G smartphone models were offered by Samsung last year including the Galaxy S10 5G, Galaxy Note 10 5G, Galaxy Note 10+ 5G, Galaxy A90 5G, as well as Galaxy Fold 5G.
Samsung’s 5G portfolio will continue to expand in the coming months with the imminent arrival of the Galaxy S20 5G and Galaxy S20+ 5G. Besides smartphones, Samsung will also bring 5G connectivity to their tablet products as well. The Galaxy Tab S6 5G is one of these upcoming tablets which will hit the market soon.
Although 5G connectivity was previously exclusive to high-end smartphones, but it has slowly becomes a norm among mid-ranger smartphones as seen in the newly announced Redmi K30 5G and Huawei Nova 6 5G.
More OEMs are now gearing up for the emerging 5G smartphone market which is expected to see an explosive growth this year. Recent report out of China has estimated that Huawei will ship 100 million 5G smartphones in China alone this year.
