After teasing the arrival of the POCO X5 series for a couple of weeks, POCO has confirmed its launch date. The company will globally announce the POCO X5 and X5 Pro at 8 PM (GMT+8) on Feb. 6.
Last year, the company released the POCO X4 Pro and POCO X4 GT smartphones. The lineup did not include a non-Pro model. This time around, the company plans to launch the POCO X5 and X5 Pro in the global market. The launch event will be live-streamed across the company’s social media accounts like YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter.
The company will also announce the POCO X5 Pro in India at the same time (5:30 PM IST). There is no confirmation on whether the country will receive the vanilla model.
The official teaser released by the brand confirms that the POCO X5 Pro will come equipped with a 120Hz Xfinity AMOLED display, the Snapdragon 778G processor, and a 108-megapixel primary camera. It will be available in three colors, black, blue, and yellow. The device will be sold exclusively through Flipkart in India.
Earlier this month, Xiaomi’s sub-brand Redmi unveiled the Redmi Note 12 Pro Speed Edition in China. Rumors are rife that the same device will launch as the POCO X5 Pro in markets outside of China.
The POCO X5 5G rumors have claimed that it will be quite similar to the Redmi Note 12 5G, which recently debuted in the Indian market. Leaked renders of the phone shared by Snoopy Tech show that it will come in black and green colors. The X5 and Note 12 will mainly differ in the chipset department. Instead of the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chip that powers the Note 12, the X5 could be equipped with the Snapdragon 695 SoC.
