Recently, there have been words on the streets that Sharp is currently prepping a near benzel-less smartphone which is set to be unveiled later this year. According to reports, this smartphone is none other than the long rumored Sharp Aquos S2. Right now, it seems like it unveiling date has been confirmed and it will be happening on August 8th next month.
Earlier this month, we’d already seen a leaked image of this device which give us a partial look at its front panel which shows a seemingly edge-to-edge display. Courtesy of a user from Chinese Weibo, we’re now able to take a better look at its front panel thanks to another render. As seen on the image below, the Sharp Aquos S2 will be coming with a dual-camera setup at the back, which is arranged in a vertical fashion with a LED flash below the camera module. Not really sure how accurate this is, but the Aquos S2 is also purported to come with an under-glass fingerprint sensor as well.
If rumors are true, then the Aquos S2 is expected to come with a 5.5″ 2040x1080p resolution display with a 17:9 aspect ratio. The device will be powered by a Snapdragon 660 SoC with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB internal storage space under the hood. As for its camera, there will be a pair of 13MP sensors at the back which is supplemented with an 8MP front-facing camera for selfies.
Just in case we missed out, there is also another Sharp Aquos S1 in the pipeline but we’re not really certain if it will be debuted on the August 8th launch event.
