Sony Xperia 5 Unveiled with 21:9 Display and Triple Cameras

Sony has unveiled that the Xperia 5 flagship phone at the IFA 2019 tech trade show. It is a smaller phone compared to the Snapdragon 855 powered Xperia 1 that was announced at the beginning of 2019. The smartphone comes with triple rear cameras and it is also fueled by the Snapdragon 855 mobile platform.

Sony Xperia 5 Specifications and Features

The Xperia 5 comes with a 21:9 CinemaWide aspect ratio supporting display of 6.1 inches. The OLED panel supports 1080 x 2520 pixels full HD+ resolution. It comes with IP65/68 rated dustproof and waterproof body that is equipped with Gorilla Glass 6 panels on front and rear sides.

The Snapdragon 855 mobile platform with 6 GB of RAM fuels the smartphone. It has 128 GB of native storage and a microSD card slot. The 3,140mAh battery of the phone supports fast charging. The Android 9 Pie OS runs on device. The Game Enhancer mode optimizes the gaming experience on the device. The phone also features Dolby Atmos powered stereo speakers.

The triple camera setup that is located at the top-left corner of the rear shell has a 12-megapixel primary lens, a 12-megapixe superwide lens and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. On the front is an 8-megapixel selfie snapper.

Sony Xperia 5 Price and Release Date

The Xperia 5 pricing has not been confirmed yet. Its pre-orders will start in Europe next week followed by market release in October. Black, Blue, Red and Grey are the four color editions of the phone.
