At the MWC 2018, Sony has unveiled the Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact with new full screen design. Here is all the information available on its specs, features and pricing.
Sony Xperia XZ2 and Xperia Z2 Compact sport a curvy derriere that offers better grip. The design is dubbed as Ambient Flow by Sony. Both smartphones feature rear-mounted fingerprint reader. The Xperia XZ2 feature IP68 certified chassis that include glass panels on front and rear sides with a metallic frame in between. The XZ2 Compact has polycarbonate sheets instead of glass panels.
The Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact feature 5.7-inch and 5-inch 18:9 aspect ratio supporting display that delivers FHD+ resolution. Both the displays carry support for HDR. The XZ2 duo also feature S-Force Front Surround stereo speakers. For better entertainment experience, the Dynamic Vibration System on XZ2 enables slight vibrations while playing games or watching movies. The feature is absent on XZ2 Compact.
The Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact feature the same 19-megapixel Sony IMX400 Motion Eye sensor available on the Xperia Z1. Apart from capabilities like 5-axis OIS, AF, PDAF, hyperlapse and so on offered by the Sony sensor, it includes BIONZ image processing algorithm for capturing image with impressive details in dim-light conditions. The camera also carries support for shooting 4K HDR video and full HD quality slow-mo videos at 960 fps.
The Snapdragon 845 chipset and 4 GB of RAM power the XZ2 duo. Both phones feature 64 GB native storage. The 3,180mAh battery powers the XZ2 and a 2,870mAh battery is present inside the smaller sibling. Wireless charging feature is only available on the larger XZ2.
The XZ2 has a faster Cat. 18 LTE modem whereas XZ2 Compact has Cat. 15 LTE modem. The other connectivity features available on the XZ2 and XZ2 Compact include Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, USB-C and GPS. Both handsets lack 3.5mm audio jack. The Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact will be arriving in the market in late March or early April. The Xperia XZ2 will come in colors like Liquid Black, Liquid Silver, Deep Green (Petroleum Blue) and Ash Pink. On the other side, the XZ2 Compact will be available in Black, White Silver, Moss Green and Coral Pink
