The new Vivo S12 series are selfie-centric smartphones with sleek and elegant design

Although it might only be five months since Vivo announced the S10 series smartphones in the Chinese market, but that didn’t stops the company from launching the new Vivo S12 series devices comprising of Vivo S12 and S12 Pro. Without further ado, let’s check out what the new Vivo S12 series have in store for us!

As you can probably tell from the moniker itself, the Vivo S12 Pro will be the higher-end model among the two. The front design of the phone remains largely unchanged with the same notched-display which houses a pair of impressive front-facing cameras that include a 50 megapixels main camera alongside an 8 megapixels ultra-wide unit.

What’s interesting however, is the presence of a dual-LED flash light along it’s upper bezel to help with selfies in low-light environment. Other than that, there’s also a vibrant 6.56” AMOLED display that offers a FHD+ screen resolution, HDR10+ support, 90Hz refresh rate, as well as 240Hz touch sampling rate.

On the rear side, we’ll be greeted by a redesigned camera island which features a triple-camera setup comprising of a 108 megapixels main camera, 8 megapixels ultra-wide camera and a 2 megapixels depth sensor.

Under the hood, the phone is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset which will be paired with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB built-in storage in the memory department. To keep it’s lights on, it’ll be backed by a respectable 4,300mAh battery with 44W fast-charging support.

Those who’re interested can pick the phone from a trio of colors including Black, Blue and Gold. In the Chinese market, the Vivo S12 Pro is priced at 3,399 Yuan (US$534) and 3,699 Yuan (US$581) respectively for it’s 8GB+256GB and 12GB+256GB models.

Coming to the Vivo S12, it features a slightly smaller 6.44” AMOLED display which retains the same FHD+ screen resolution, HDR10+ support and 90Hz refresh rate, but has a slightly slower 180Hz touch sampling rate.

Although it also have a dual front-facing cameras, but the main camera had been swapped with a slightly toned-down 44MP camera. Interestingly, the rear cameras on the Vivo S12 remain unchanged. As such, we’ll still be looking at the same 108 megapixels main camera, 8 megapixels ultra-wide camera and a 2 megapixels depth sensor.

Unlike the Vivo S12 Pro that’s powered by a Dimensity 1200 chipset, the vanilla model is helmed by a Dimensity 1100 chip instead. This will be coupled with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB built-in storage on the memory side of things.

To keep it’s lights on, the Vivo S12 is backed by a 4,200mAh battery which features the same 44W fast-charging speed. Pricing-wise, the phone will set you back by 2,799 Yuan (US$439) and 2,999 Yuan (US$471) respectively for the 8GB+256GB and 12GB+256GB variants.
