After weeks of leaks, Vivo finally confirmed today that it will be announcing the Vivo S9 series of smartphones in China on March 3. The confirmation has come through a Weibo post. Rumors are rife that Vivo may announce the Vivo S9 5G and Vivo S9e 5G smartphones on the said date.
The teaser video released by Vivo only shows that Chinese celebrity Cai Xukun endorsing the Vivo S9 series. At the beginning of the video, he can be seen taking a selfie using a handset, which appears to be the Vivo S9 5G.
At the end of the video, Xukun can be seen holding a super-slim S9 handset. The company is yet to reveal information on its specifications. Rumors have it that the Vivo S9 5G will be the first phone to feature the 6nm Dimensity 1100 chipset.
Recent reports have revealed that the Vivo S9 5G could be the V2072A phone that was spotted at the Google Play Console recently. The handset was spotted at the 3C certification platform earlier this month with a 33W fast charger. It has now appeared in the database of China’s TENAA certification platform. The listing reveals that the phone has a 6.44-inch display, a 3,905mAh battery, Android 11 OS, and 158.39 x 73.87 x 7.35mm.
The images of the Vivo S9 have not yet appeared at TENAA. However, its Google Play Console listing had revealed it will be sporting the same front design as the predecessor Vivo S7 5G smartphone. The Play Console appearance revealed specs like Full HD+ resolution, D1100 chip, 12 GB of RAM, and 256 GB of storage.
Shown above is the leaked poster of the phone, which appeared earlier this month. As it can be seen, the rear appearance of the device bears a resemblance to the Vivo S7 5G. It is expected to come with other specs like a 90Hz refresh rate support, a 64-megapixel triple camera system, and a 44-megapixel dual selfie camera system.
The rumored Vivo S9e 5G that may go official with Vivo S9 5G is expected to arrive with specs like a 90Hz FHD+ display, 32-megapixel front camera, a 64-megapixel triple camera system, a Dimensity 820 chipset, a 4,100mAh battery, and 33W fast charge support. Its model number could be V2048A.
