Last month, Xiaomi unveiled the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro as the world’s first Snapdragon 8 Elite phone in China. This month, the company’s sub-brand Redmi is expected to unveil the Redmi K80 and K80 Pro phones in the home market. The highly anticipated Xiaomi 15 Ultra, which is also expected to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, is expected to go official in the first quarter of 2025. Well-known tipster Digital Chat Station has now leaked camera specifications of the Ultra well before its expected launch timeframe.
Xiaomi 15 Ultra camera details leaked
The screenshot above shows that DCS has leaked the camera specifications for an upcoming device, speculated to be the Xiaomi 15 Ultra based on previous reports. The leak indicates that the main camera will feature a custom hardware module with a 50-megapixel sensor offering a 23mm focal length and an f/1.6 aperture, representing an upgrade in physical focal length compared to its predecessor’s 8.7mm. As per previous reports, the device will feature the Sony LYT-900 image sensor as the primary camera.
The periscope telephoto lens incorporates a 200-megapixel sensor, providing a 4.3x optical zoom, a 100mm focal length, and an f/2.6 aperture. This translates to approximately 25mm of physical focal length with slight cropping. The 4.3x imaging size is around 1/1.5 inch, while at 4.1x, it can utilize the full 1/1.4 inch sensor size.
While it is not mentioned in the leak, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra’s rear camera setup is also expected to feature a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens and a 50-megapixel telephoto camera. These cameras are said to feature Samsung S5KJN5 and Sony IMX858 camera sensors, respectively. On the front, it may feature a 32-megapixel OmniVision OV32B40 camera sensor.
The rumor mill is yet to leak details about the Xiaomi 15 Ultra’s other specifications. The 15 Ultra is expected to face competition from the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra, Oppo Find X8 Ultra, Vivo X200 Ultra, and Honor Magic 7 Ultimate in the home market.
