Xiaomi announces Redmi 9T and Redmi Note 9T 5G duo

After launching the Xiaomi Mi 10i earlier this week, the Chinese smartphone giant returns to the limelight today with a pair of new launches – Redmi 9T and Redmi Note 9T 5G – targeted towards the mid-ranger segment.

Starting with the more affordable Redmi 9T, the device sports a 6.53-inches FHD+ LCD display that comes with a typical dewdrop-notch that houses houses an 8 megapixels selfie camera.

Under the hood, the Redmi 9T is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 662 chipset which was also found in the newly announced POCO M3. This will be paired with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage which can be further expanded via a microSD card.

For photography, the device relies on a quad-camera system at the back consisting of a 48 megapixels primary shooter, 8 megapixels ultra-wide lens, as well as a pair of 2 megapixels cameras for macro and depth information.

Keeping its lights on will be a 6,000mAh battery that comes with 18W fast-charging support. Other than that, there will also be a 3.5mm headphone jack, side-mounted fingerprint scanner and stereo speakers.

For those who’re interested, the Redmi 9T is available in four delightful color variants: Carbon Gray, Twilight Blue, Sunrise Orange, and Ocean Green. It will be priced at S$199 (US$150) and S$229 (US$173) respectively for its 4GB+64GB and 6GB+128GB models.

Redmi Note 9T 5G

Coming to the slightly higher-end model, the Redmi Note 9T 5G brings along a 6.53-inches FHD+ LCD display that comes with a hole-punch cutout on the upper-left corner which houses a 13 megapixels selfie camera.

Unlike the Redmi 9T, the Redmi Note 9T 5G features a more powerful 5G-ready MediaTek Dimensity 800U chipset which allows the device to support both standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) 5G modes. This will be assisted by up to 6GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage in the memory department.

Over at the back, the device also comes with a versatile quad-camera system consisting of a 48 megapixels primary shooter, 2 megapixels macro camera, as well as a 2 megapixels depth sensor.

To keep its lights on, the Redmi Note 9T 5G is fitted with a 5,000mAh battery that comes along with 18W fast-charging support. Just like the Redmi 9T, a 3.5mm headphone jack, side-mounted fingerprint scanner and stereo speakers are also present on the Redmi Note 9T 5G.

Those who’re interested can pick from two different colorways including Daybreak Purple and Nightfall Black. In the European market, the Redmi Note 9T 5G is priced at €229 and €269 respectively for its 6GB+64GB and 6GB+128GB variants.

As of now, there’s still no words on the availability of the Redmi Note 9T 5G in Singapore.
