Xiaomi Launching a New Smartphone in India on January 19

Xiaomi VP Hugo Barra has teased the launch of a new Xiaomi smartphone in India via a Weibo post containing a poster. The company VP did not leave anyone in doubt concerning the smartphone that would be released on January 19 into the Indian market, as he did reveal it is the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4.

The tech giant had earlier teased that it would release some of its smartphone in the Redmi series this January and now it is glaring the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 would be the first device to hit the ground. We do hope it hits the ground running, because the Redmi Note 4 was released in China around August last year and didn’t really perform up to expectations. The Redmi Note 4 took over from the highly successful Redmi Note 3 which was released in 2015 and performed marvelously well.

The Redmi Note 3 was also introduced to the India market around this same time last year and it contributed tremendously to the huge sales figures Xiaomi posted in the India market last year. The Redmi Note 4 would likely continue the Xiaomi tradition of releasing sleek smartphones with cheap price tag as the device may likely be priced around the same $135 with which it was released last year.

Apart from its beautiful design, the  Redmi Note 4 comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p IPS LCD display with 450 nit brightness. Inside, the phone comes with the Helio X20 deca-core processor clocked at 2.1GHz. There are two memory versions available, there is a standard version which comes with 2GB RAM + 16GB storage and high version which features 3GB RAM + 64GB storage. Both these versions have expandable hybrid storages. Other features include a 13MP rear camera with PDAF, f/2.0 aperture, and a 5MP front camera. There is also a large 4,100mAH battery with 5V 2A fast charging, a fingerprint sensor, dual SIM/ dual Standby and MIUI 8 OS.

The Redmi Note 4 2GB + 16GB retails for 899 Yuan ($135) in China, while the 3GB + 64GB version costs 1199 Yuan ($180). SO we expect it to be priced in this region or slightly higher.
