Xiaomi has released a new teaser for its upcoming launch event that will be held on Sept. 19. The Weibo post that carries the teaser image states that the company will be launching new Mi 8 series products at the next week’s event. So far, Xiaomi has confirmed that it will be launching Mi 8 Youth Edition smartphone. Rumors that surfaced earlier in this month had claimed that the company will be also launching the Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint Edition phone alongside the Mi 8 Youth Edition. The mysterious phone that can be seen with a Gold colored iPhone in the teaser image suggests that the company could be teasing the Gold version of the Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint Edition.
Nothing much is known about the Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint Edition. However, as the name goes, it will be equipped with an in-display fingerprint scanner. It is expected to arrive in models like 128 GB storage + 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage + 6 GB RAM. The handset is also rumored to arrive in Black and Gold options. The rest of the specs of the phone could be the same as the Xiaomi Mi 8 flagship phone that was unveiled in May. There is no information available on the pricing of the phone.
The 128 GB storage + 8 GB RAM edition of the Xiaomi Mi 8 is selling in China with a price tag of 3,299 Yuan ($481). There is a possibility that the Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint Edition may be priced higher than 3,299 Yuan ($481).
