Xiaomi Mi 9 and Mi 9 Explorer Edition Goes Official Announced in China

Through an unveil event in China, Xiaomi has officially announced the Xiaomi Mi 9 series. The Mi 9, Mi 9 Explorer Edition and Mi 9 SE are the devices that belong to the Mi 9 series. Except for the Mi 9 SE that comes with mid-range specs, the other two phones are packed with flagship specifications.

The Xiaomi Mi 9 comes with a 6.39-inch AMOLED display with waterdrop notch. The display is embedded with an in-screen fingerprint reader and it is shielded with Corning Gorilla Glass 6.

The Snapdragon 855 fuels the smartphone with up to 8 GB of RAM. It can be availed in 64 GB and 128 GB storage sizes. The MIUI 10 based Android 9 Pie OS comes preinstalled on the device. There is no microSD card slot on the device.

The smartphone is fitted with a triple camera setup that includes a Sony IMX586 48-megapixel primary sensor, a 16-megapixel ultra wide-angle lens and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom. For capturing, the handset features a 20-megapixel selfie camera. The 3,300mAh battery of the phone is equipped with 27W fast charging and 20W fast wireless charging.

The Xiaomi Mi 9 Explorer Edition has the same specs as the Mi 9 smartphone. The only major differences on the Explorer Edition is that it comes with a transparent back panel, 12 GB of RAM and an inbuilt storage of 256 GB.

Xiaomi Mi 9 and Mi 9 Explorer Edition Price and Availability

The 6 GB and 8 GB RAM variants of the Xiaomi Mi 9 are respectively priced at 2,999 Yuan ($446) and 3,299 Yuan ($490). Its color variants are Lavender Violet, Ocean Blue and Piano Black. The Mi 9 Explore Edition costs 3,999 Yuan ($595).
