Xiaomi Mi Max 2 Launched With Bigger 5,300mAh Battery, but Disappoints With Snapdragon 625

Xiaomi has launched the Mi Max 2 phablet to replace the last year’s model. Even though the predecessor phone came with a huge 4,850mAh battery, Xiaomi has increased the battery size to 5,300mAh on the Mi Max 2. The rumor mill had predicted that the Snapdragon 626 or the new Snapdragon 660 would be powering the handset. However, Xiaomi has disappointed its fans by featuring the Snapdragon 625 on Mi Max 2 as it is the same SoC that powers the predecessor phone.

It features a 6.44-inch full HD display. The thick black borders (measuring 1.5mm) that is present on all the four sides of the screen of Mi Max have become thinner on the successor phone. It now measures only 0.7mm.

It features a Sony IMX386 12-megapixel rear snapper that has a larger pixel size of 1.25im that can snapping amazing photos. It is equipped with PDAF and dual-tone flash. Its front-facing snapper is of 5-megapixel. The phablet is equipped with a stereo speaker. It is running on Android 7.1 Nougat customized with MIUI 8.2. It features a rear-facing fingerprint reader and it comes with a USB-C port.

The Xiaomi Mi Max 2 comes in two variants. The 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage model is priced at 1,699 Yuan ($248). Its 4 GB RAM + 128 GB storage costs 1,999 Yuan ($291). It will go on sale in China from June 1 through online and offline channels.
