The Mi Pad 3 tablet was removed from Chinese edition of Xiaomi’s site in October 2017. The company had also reportedly removed the tablet category from the official site. This had indicated that firm might have ended its tablet lineup, but few months later Xiaomi co-founder and CEO Lei Jun had confirmed that the company is developing a new tablet. However, neither him nor the company shared fresh information on it. Fresh information shared by well-known analyst Pan Jiutang who has also partnered with Xiaomi’s Industry Investment Department has claimed that the next Xiaomi tablet is in works.
As it can be seen in the above Weibo post, Xiaomi fans are also waiting for the launch of the next-generation Mi tablet. Jiutang responded to one of the Xiaomi fans who is eagerly waiting for the return of Mi Pad by the saying that the next-generation tablet by Xiaomi is in research and development phase. Unfortunately, apart from hinting the existence of Mi Pad 4, the analyst did not reveal any information on its specifications.
The tablets industry has declined in the recent years. Hence, even though Mi Pad series of tablets have received good reception from audience, the company has been quite slow in debuting newer models.
