Redmi Y is the new series of smartphones from the company for India. Xiaomi has introduced the new Redmi Y1 and Redmi Y1 Lite under the new lineup. Actually, these are rebranded Redmi Note 5A Prime and Redmi Note 5A that were unveiled in China in August
Redmi Y1 and Y1 Lite Specs and Features
The Redmi Y1 and Y1 Lite have polycarbonate bodies that have been given metallic finish. Both the smartphones feature 5.5-inch displays. The Redmi Y1 supports full HD resolution and the Redmi Y1 carries support for HD resolution. The displays are placed under 2.5D curved glass.
These smartphones are respectively powered by Snapdragon 435 and 425 chipsets. The Redmi Y1 comes in options like 3 GB RAM / 32 GB storage and 4 GB RAM / 64 GB storage whereas the Redmi Y1 Lite has 2 GB RAM and 16 GB storage. These are dual-SIM phones that come with dedicated slots for adding microSD card. The back panel of these phones feature fingerprint sensors.
There is a dedicated LED flash for the 16-megapixel selfie camera on Redmi Y1. Its 13-megapixel rear camera is equipped with dual rear cameras. The Redmi Y1 Lite has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera and a 13-megapixel rear camera. Both the phones include 3,080mAh batteries.
Redmi Y1 and Y1 Lite Pricing
The 32 GB and 64 GB Redmi Y1 models are respectively priced at Rs. 8,999 and Rs. 10,999. The Redmi Y1 Lite is priced at Rs. 6,999. These phones come in colors like Gold and Dark Grey. Its sales will begin on Nov. 8 at 12 PM on Amazon India, Mi.com, Mi Home stores and other offline channels.
