Xiaomi Reportedly Testing 80W Wireless Charging, Mass Production Expected in H1 2021

At the end of December, Xiaomi unveiled the Snapdragon 888 powered Xiaomi Mi 11 flagship phone in China. The handset came with support for 55W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. The latter allows the phone’s 4,600mAh battery to charge completely in 53 minutes. It is likely that an upcoming flagship phone from Xiaomi may offer faster wireless charging technology with 80W charging speed.

In October 2020, Xiaomi unleashed its 80W ultrafast wireless charging technology. At that time, the company claimed that the new wireless charging solution can completely charge a 4,000mAh battery in just 19 minutes. It takes around 8 minutes to gain 50 percent battery juice.

Today, a Chinese tipster revealed that the company is testing a flagship smartphone with 80W wireless charging solution and it is now in the verification phase. If it goes well, the mass production models may arrive in the first half of 2020.

Xiaomi 80W wireless rapid charging technology

Some netizens have speculated that the Xiaomi Mi 11 Pro that is expected to break cover in February could be equipped with 80W wireless charging technology. It is advisable to wait for further reports to know which handset will be arriving with Xiaomi’s superfast wireless charging technology.

In related news, Xiaomi is reportedly working on the global launch of the Xiaomi Mi 11 series. It is speculated that the Xiaomi Mi 11 Lite mid-range will also go official alongside it. Both the smartphones have received certifications from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), which indicates their launch date may not be far away. The Mi 11 duo may go official in Q1.
