Xiaomi Reveals Concept Smartphone With Quad-Curved Waterfall Display

In September 2019, Xiaomi introduced the Xiaomi Mi MIX Alpha concept phone. The handset sported a wraparound screen. Since it was a concept phone, the Mi MIX Alpha was not released in the market. Today, the company announced a new concept smartphone with a quad-curved waterfall screen.

Xiaomi did not confirm a name for its newly announced concept phone. The promo video released by the brand shows that the smartphone has a unibody design without any ports or buttons. It has been built using 46 different pathbreaking patents, claims the company.

Xiaomi quad-curved display phone

There are a couple of smartphones in the market like the Huawei Mate 30 Pro and Vivo NEX 3 that have 88-degree curved edges on the left and right sides. However, the new concept phone by Xiaomi is the first device t sport 88-degree curvature at the top and bottom edges of the display. Xiaomi said that the amazing display design was achieved through “countless breakthroughs in glass bending and laminating technology to extend the limits of the display to infinity.”

A careful look at the corners of the concept smartphone suggests that Xiaomi has added some sort of reinforcing material. Probably, Xiaomi may have done this to increase its durability.

The rear view of the phone reveals a rectangle-shaped camera module that includes a single camera and an elongated flash unit. Below the main camera is a square block that seems to be housing the other lenses of the phone. Also, there is no information available on its specs. While it flaunts a truly futuristic design, it is unclear whether the company will launch a new phone with a quad-curved waterfall screen this year.
