On the official Weibo account of Xiaomi Company, Xiaomi has released a new teaser for an upcoming product. The teaser image features a multicolored ā€œSā€ alphabet. The letter S also hints that the Chinese company could be prepping up to launch the rumored Surge S2 in-house chipset.

Redmi S2 or Surge S2

If the above poster hints the arrival of Redmi S2, the Chinese manufacturer could have used its Redmi Weibo account. However, since it has used the Xiaomi Company Weibo account, Xiaomi fans are confused as to what this mysterious product could be.

The TENAA listing of Redmi S2 has revealed that it features 5.99-inch HD+ display, Snapdragon 625, 2 GB / 3 GB / 4 GB RAM, 16 GB/ 32 GB/ 64 GB storage, MIUI 9 based Android 8.1 Oreo and 3,000mAh battery.

Recent reports have revealed that Xiaomi has started with mass production of the 16nm Surge S2 SoC. It is speculated to feature 2.2 GHz quad-core Cortex A73 CPU + 1.8 GHz quad-core Cortex A53 CPU, Mali G71MP8 GPU, UFS 2.1 and LPDDR4. Its performance could be similar to Kirin 960 SoC by Huawei. The Surge S2 is unlikely to support CDMA network. Rumors have it that Xiaomi will be manufacturing a small volume of the Surge S2 initially. A smartphone featuring the new Xiaomi chipset may release in the second half of the year
