ZTE has officially unveiled the much anticipated Axon 30 5G smartphone during an official launch event held in the Chinese market. The ZTE Axon 30 5G is currently the third model within the Axon 30 series, and is also the most affordable model within the lineup.
The ZTE Axon 30 5G smartphones puts forward a 6.92” AMOLED display which offers a FHD+ screen resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. Thanks to the adoption of a 16MP under-display selfie camera, the front display is free of unsightly notches or hole-punches, providing users a true full-screen experience.
Speaking of the phone’s display, ZTE noted that the company has ”overcome numerous technical challenges and brought about a qualitative leap in the front camera invisibility and the display performance, powered by its continuous innovation and upgrades in the six core technologies”.
As a result of these improvements and upgrades, the ppi count of the display area around the selfie camera has been doubled from 200 ppi (in last year’s Axon 20) to 400 ppi this time round.
Likewise, the new under-display camera area is also more light-transmissive than it’s predecessor, thereby allowing more lights to reach the imaging sensor which subsequently results in selfies of better quality.
On the rear side, the ZTE Axon 30 5G boasts a rectangular camera island which is home to a quad-cam setup comprising of a 64 megapixels Sony IMX682 main camera, 8 megapixels ultra-wide lens, 5 megapixels macro camera, as well as a depth sensor for portrait shots.
Under the hood, the ZTE Axon 30 5G is powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 870 chipset along with up to 12GB RAM and 256GB onboard storage. To keep it’s lights on, the phone draws power from a respectable 4,200mAh battery with 55W fast-charging support.
For those who’re interested, the ZTE Axon 30 5G is available in both Black and Green color options. In the Chinese market, the Axon 30 5G carries a starting price of just 2,198 Yuan (US$338) for it’s 6GB+128GB trim.
