Earlier in this week, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor had confirmed that had Honor 7X, Honor 8, Honor V8, Honor Note 8, Honor 8 Lite, Honor 9, Honor V9, Honor 9 Lite and Honor V10 are the nine Honor phones that will be receive EMUI 8.0 update. Today, Huawei’s VP Bruce Lee has confirmed the listing of Huawei phones that will be getting the EMUI 8.0 update.
Here is the list of Huawei phones that will be upgraded to EMU 8.0: Mate 8, P9, P9 Plus, Nova Youth Edition, Nova 2, Nova 2 Plus and Maimang 6. The Maimang 6 was launched as Mate 10 Lite in some markets. The Mate 10 series phones that was unveiled in October last year are pre-installed with EMUI 8.0.
EMUI 8.0 Android skin by Huawei is based on Android 8.0 Oreo update. One should be aware of the fact that the arrival of EMUI 8.0 update does not mean that it will bring along Android 8.0 Oreo update. In other words, some smartphones will be getting EMUI 8.0 flavored Android 8.0 Oreo, while other phones may receive only receive an upgraded user interface with enhanced feature, but it will not bring Oreo update.
The company could be currently testing the EMUI 8.0 update for the above listed Huawei phones. It has not confirmed on the timeframe for rolling out the latest EMUI skin for these phones. The EMUI 8.0 is expected to release in the coming months.
EMUI 8.0 has arrived as the successor of the EMU 5.1 update. Huawei has skipped the numberings like 6 and 7 to sync it with version numbers of Android. The EMUI 8.0 is not only faster, but also carries some advanced AI features. However, some of the older Honor phones will not be getting all the features of EMU 8.0 due to hardware restrictions.
