Samsung Galaxy Watch is Now Official in Two Sizes and Tizen OS

Apart from launching the Galaxy Note 9 in the New York, U.S., Samsung has also announced the arrival of the Galaxy Watch smartwatch. As the name reveals, it does not carry “Gear” moniker even though it is a successor of the Gear S3. It has arrived in two sizes and multiple band choices.

Apart from the 46mm size like the Gear S3, the new Galaxy Watch also comes in a new 42mm variant. The casing of the watch has color choices such as Midnight Black, Rose Gold and Silver A slew of band options from metal to leather are available for the Galaxy Watch. It is an IP68 certified rated waterproof smartwatch that comes with 5ATM pressure rating. Since it is MIL-STD-810G complaint, it can withstand harsh conditions. Both the variants are also available in Bluetooth and LTE models.

The Galaxy Watch comes with a round face and its circular bezel can be rotated to access its different features. It has an internal storage of 4 GB. The Bluetooth model has 768 MB of RAM whereas the LTE variant has 1.5 GB of RAM. The Galaxy Watch runs on Tizen OS that offers 60,000 watch faces. The 46mm model has 1.3-inch Gorilla Glass DX+ protected AMOLED screen and 472mAh battery whereas the smaller variant has 1.2-inch Gorilla Glass DX+ shielded AMOLED display and 270mAh battery.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch is also packed with various health tracking features. In the U.S., T-Mobile will be selling 46mm and 42mm editions of the Bluetooth model for $330 and $350 whereas the two size options of the LTE variant will be available for $375 and $400. The carrier will start selling it from Aug. 24. It will be coming to South Korea on Aug. 31 followed by market release in other regions by Sept. 14.
