9.7-inch iPad Enabled with Apple Pencil Support is Official

Tablet industry leader Apple has unleashed a new 9.7-inch iPad with a price tag of $329. The pricing of the device suggests that it is an entry-level model. The major attraction of the tablet is that it is enabled with support for Apple Pencil stylus. For schools, the new 9.7-inch iPad will be available for $299. The Apple Pencil that has a usual price tag of $99 will be available for schools with a pricing of $89.

9.7-inch iPad Specifications and Features

It houses a 9.7-inch Retina display that supports resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. It lacks features such as antireflective coating, True Tone display and ProMotion (120Hz refresh rate) that are usually found on high-end iPad Pro models. Last year’s model featured Apple A9 chipset, but the newer device features Apple A10 Fusion SoC that powered the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus smartphones. It brings support for AR on the new tablet.

For photography, it includes 8-megapixel rear camera that supports Full HD video shooting and a front-facing camera of 5-megapixel. At the launch event of the new 9.7-inch iPad, Apple announce a $49 stylus from Logitech Crayon. Students will be provided with 200 GB of free iCloud storage while regular buyers will get 5 GB storage.

9.7-inch iPad Pricing

The new 9.7-inch iPad is available for ordering in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, UAE, the UK and the US. It will be available for buying in these countries from later this week. India, Russia, Thailand, Turkey and some other regions will be receiving it in April. Rest of the world including South Korea will get in the start of May.

The 32 GB Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + Cellular models are respectively priced at $329 and $459. The 128 GB Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi + Cellular model respectively cost $429 and $559.
