Samsung Galaxy S8, S8+ Officially Unveiled with Amazing Widescreen, Powerful Snapdragon 835, More

Samsung has officially unveiled the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ through Unpacked event held on March 29. Both the smartphones feature dual-edge curved display panels and glass panels on the rear side. The Galaxy S8/S8+ will be available in colors like Midnight Black, Orchid Gray, Arctic Silver, Coral Blue and Maple Gold.

The Galaxy S8 has a 5.8-inch screen and the Galaxy S8+ has a 6.2-inch display. Both the Super AMOLED screens offer an aspect ratio of 18.5:9 and deliver a resolution of 1,440 x 2,960 pixels. The screen also supports HDR10. The displays feature on-screen pressure sensitive buttons for Home, Back and Recent. The screens of both phones are protected by Gorilla Glass 5.

The left edge has volume controllers and Bixby button whereas the right side houses the power button. The S8 duo feature 12-megapixel Dual Pixel rear camera whereas they have 8-megapixel selfie cameras. For security, the Galaxy S8 and S8+ are packed with features like rear-mounted fingerprint scanners, iris scanner and facial recognition.

The Snapdragon 835 drives both the pones with 4 GB of RAM. Some countries are going to receive Exynos 8895 chipset + 4 GB RAM variants. The new chipset makes the Galaxy S8 duo the first smartphones to support 1 gigabit LTE. The native storage available on both phones is 64 GB.

Markets like China and South Korea are expected to receive 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage models. Both phones come with IP68 certification for water and dust protection. The S8 has a 3,000 mAh battery and S8+ has 3,500 mAh battery. Both phones also support wireless charging. Other features include 3.5 mm audio jack, USB Type-C port and support for Samsung DeX.
