OPPO’s Ace series may be focusing primarily on gaming-centric smartphones

In a new Weibo post (spotted by Mukul Sharma) published by OPPO’s VP Brian Shen, it was revealed that the post was published on an unannounced smartphone known as OPPO Ace2.

If you’ve been following the news, then this device will definitely sounds familiar to you. That’s because we’ve been hearing a lot recently about an upcoming smartphone known as OPPO Reno Ace2 which is slated to be the direct successor for last year’s Reno Ace flagship.

This device had already been certified by the Chinese TENAA authority, and even had it’s alleged live image leaked out earlier this month. Based on current development, it seems to hint that the Chinese smartphone maker will be establishing a new smartphone series under the “Ace” moniker.

As such, the upcoming Ace2 flagship will no longer carries the “Reno” branding, and will be marketed as OPPO Ace2 instead. In Shen’s latest Weibo post, he’d also hinted that the OPPO Ace2 could sport an impressive touch-sampling rate and screen refresh rate.

Based on this information, it is possible that the upcoming “Ace” series will focus primarily on gaming-centric smartphones. This means that the OPPO’s “Ace” series may be equivalent to Vivo’s current “iQOO” series at some point of time.

As of now, details of the upcoming OPPO Ace2 remain scarce. However, we do know that the device will be a 5G-ready phone that supports both standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) modes. It will also support up to 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 fast-charging support according to the Chinese 3C authority.

If everything goes as planned, the OPPO Ace2 could be announced as early as April next month.
