The feverishly-anticipated OnePlus 8 series smartphones will make their official debut on April 14th. Prior to their official launch, most of the devices’ key specs as well as official renders had already been leaked.
Right now, one of the few missing piece of puzzles will be the expected pricing of the OnePlus 8 series smartphones. Surprisingly, OnePlus CEO Pete Lau has revealed some insight into this aspect.
According to Lau, the OnePlus 8 series smartphones will cost under US$1,000. Although no specific price or price range was given, but it will certainly be cheaper than some of the recent 5G flagship phones including the Samsung Galaxy S20 5G.

Besides that, Lau also moved on to explain that the OnePlus 8 series smartphones will be comparatively higher than it’s previous flagship phones due to the adoption of 5G.
Some of the key reasons highlighted by Lau include the increased technical complexity of 5G which make it’s more challenging in designing and configuring the new generation’s smartphones.
This issue is worsened by the fact that the prices of raw materials and 5G chips across the supply chains have increased as well.
However, he do believe that the pricing of 5G technologies will fall as the industry matures over time.
