Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 Could be Galaxy Fold’s Successor’s Name, Claims New Report

In August, Samsung is expected to hold the Unpacked event to announce the Galaxy Note 20 series, Galaxy Z Flip, and Galaxy Fold 2. Rumors have it that the launch event could be held on Aug. 5. The rumor mill has been referring to the successor of the Galaxy Fold as the Galaxy Fold 2. However, fresh information shared by Sammobile states that the successor may have a slightly different name of Galaxy Z Fold 2.

The publication has learned from its sources that the Galaxy Fold 2 will be arriving in the market as the Galaxy Z Fold 2. Hence, it appears that the forthcoming foldable phone in the series will be part of the Galaxy Z series.

The branding was introduced earlier this year with the launch of the Galaxy Z Flip that debuted as the first clamshell handset with a foldable display. In fact, the South Korean company had claimed in February that it decided to name its foldable device portfolio as Galaxy Z. Interestingly, the web page of the original Galaxy Fold was moved to the Galaxy Z category on the official site.

While the inner display will support 120Hz, the outer FHD+ display will a punch-hole design and support for the 60Hz refresh rate.

The Snapdragon 865+ mobile platform is likely to power the Galaxy Z Fold 2. It may come with a dual-part battery with a rated capacity of 4,365mAh that may support 25W fast charging. The base model of the device may offer users with an internal storage of 256 GB. The rear side of the foldable phone may feature a 64-megapixel triple camera unit.
