Vivo Confirms List of OriginOS Upgradeable Phones; Rollout Schedule Released

Yesterday, Vivo confirmed the arrival of the OriginOS as a replacement to its exciting FunTouch OS custom ROM.  The Vivo X60 series that is expected to break cover next month could be the first phones to arrive with OriginOS. The OriginOS will be available for other devices too in the coming year. Today, Vivo confirmed the OriginOS rollout schedule for its other smartphones in China.

The open beta edition of the OriginOS will be available to the first batch of devices before January 31st. These devices include the Vivo NEX 3S, Vivo X50 Pro+, Vivo X50 Pro, Vivo X50, Vivo S7, iQOO 5 Pro, iQOO 5, iQOO 3, iQOO Pro, iQOO, and iQOO Neo3.

Subsequently, Vivo is expected to bring the OriginOS update to phones like Vivo NEX 3, NEX 3 5G, X30 Pro, X30, iQOO Neo, and iQOO Neo 855 before the Chinese New Year which falls on February 12th.

A majority of other devices are scheduled to receive the OriginOS upgrade in Q2 2021. These include Vivo X27 Pro, X27, S6, S5, S1 Pro, S1, Z6, Z5x, Z5i, Z5, iQOO Z1x, Z1, NEX Dual Display, NEX S, and NEX A.

Vivo is also expected to bring the OriginOS upgrade to devices to global markets. It appears that the global rollout of the OriginOS is likely to be available a month or two after it arrives in the Chinese markets.

The OriginOS offers a renewed user interface and smoother user experience. One of the major attractions of the OriginOS is that it comes with a new grid-like desktop UI. It allows users to populate the homescreen with dynamic widgets that can be resized, rearranged, show notifications, and some controls.
