This will be our first look at the Google Pixel 5a

After launching the Google Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a 5G back in September last year, it seems like Google is now gearing up for the launch of the company’s first smartphone of the year – Google Pixel 5a – which will be succeeding last year’s Pixel 4a (4G).

Right now, courtesy of world renowned leaker Steve Hemmerstoffer, we’re once again able to have our first near-official look at the Pixel 5a ahead of its actual launch which is likely to happen during the second-quarter of the year.

In terms of appearance, it is obvious that the upcoming Google Pixel 5a shares a close resemblance to the current Pixel 4a 5G. Upfront, it employs a similar hole-punch design with slim bezels along its sides. According to Steve, it actually borrows the 6.2-inches OLED display with FHD+ screen resolution from the Pixel 4a 5G.

Over on the flip-side, we’ll once again be greeted by a familiar sight – a squarish camera housing which play host to a dual-camera setup, LED flash, as well as an unknown sensor tipped to be a PDAF sensor. Other than that, there’s also a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner as well.

While the overall design seems somewhat identical, but we do see some difference in their overall dimension. This time round, the Pixel 5a is expected to arrive with an overall footprint measuring 156.2 x 73.2 x 8.8 mm which is slightly taller and yet thinner than the Pixel 4a 5G.

Finally, we can also expect to see the presence of a 3.5mm headphone jack and stereo speakers as well.
