Nubia has officially announced the company’s latest gaming flagship series, known as the Nubia Red Magic 6 series, slightly less than a week ahead of the highly anticipated ASUS ROG Phone 5 which is seen as one of its greatest rival in the gaming segment.
This time round, Nubia launches not one but two models including the vanilla Red Magic 6 and Red Magic 6 Pro. Both devices share largely the same specs except for some slight differences that set them apart.
As promised, Red Magic 6 series devices indeed deliver a class-leading 6.8-inches AMOLED display that offers a FHD+ screen resolution as well as an ultra-smooth 165Hz screen refresh rate which is currently the highest among all smartphones.
On top of that, the front display also supports 500Hz one-finger touch sampling rate and 360Hz multi-touch sampling rate. This will be rounded out by several other impressive features including its support for 10-bit color depth, 100% DCI-P3 color gamut, as well as the presence of an in-display fingerprint scanner.
Needless to say, both the Red Magic 6 and Red Magic 6 Pro are powered by the latest flagship Snapdragon 888 chipset which will be aided by ultra-fast LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 flash storage technologies for a smooth gaming experience.
Aside from the usual software optimizations for gaming, the Red Magic 6 series phones are incorporated with the latest ICE 6.0 multi-dimensional cooling system. This will be further assisted by an active cooling fan which peaks at 18,000 RPM for the vanilla Red Magic 6 and 20,000 RPM for the Red Magic 6 Pro.
For photography, the duo shares an identical triple-camera setup comprising of a 64 megapixels primary snapper, 8 megapixels ultra-wide lens, as well as a 2 megapixels macro camera. This will be accompanied by an 8 megapixels shooter upfront for selfie and video-calling purposes.
To keep its lights on, the vanilla Red Magic 6 is backed by a huge 5,050mAh battery with 66W fast-charging that’s capable of delivering a full charge in 38 minutes. Although the Red Magic 6 Pro settles for a slightly smaller 4,500mAh battery, but its able to support a much snappier 120W fast-charging.
In terms of pricing, the vanilla Red Magic 6 is priced at 3,799 Yuan (US$587), 4,099 Yuan (US$634) and 4,399 Yuan (US$680) respectively for its 8GB+128GB, 12GB+128GB and 12GB+256GB variants.
