Huawei Nova 8 arrives in the global market with Kirin 820E

After launching the Huawei Nova 8i smartphone in the Malaysian market last month, Huawei continues it’s launching spree by quietly announcing the vanilla Nova 8 in the Russian market today.

On the outside, the global variant of the Nova 8 smartphone shares an identical design as the Chinese variant that was launched back in December last year. However, the two devices do have some differences when it comes to their underlying specs.

Right off the bat, the Huawei Nova 8 arrives with a vibrant 6.57” OLED display that offers a FHD+ screen resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, in-display fingerprint scanner, as well as a 32 megapixels front-facing camera that’s housed within a central hole-punch cutout.

Over on the flip-side, the phone features an oval-shaped camera island which brings along a quad-camera system consisting of a 64 megapixels main camera, 8 megapixels ultra-wide lens, 2 megapixels macro camera, as well as a 2 megapixels depth sensor.

Under the hood, the global variant of the Huawei Nova 8 is powered by an octa-core Kirin 820E chipset which lacks 5G connectivity. For context, the Chinese variant was launched with a 5G-ready Kirin 985 chipset instead. Moving on, the Huawei Nova 8 also comes along with 8GB RAM and 128GB onboard storage in the memory department.

To keep it’s lights on, the Huawei Nova 8 draws power from a respectable 3,800mAh battery with 66W Huawei SuperCharge fast-charging support. On the software-side, the phone is covered by Huawei’s proprietary EMUI 12 (based on Android 10 AOSP) out of the box.

At the moment, the Huawei Nova 8 is available only in a single Powdery Pink colorway which is priced at RUB39,999 (US$547) for it’s sole 8GB+128GB model in the Russian market.
