In 2020, Samsung announced the Galaxy S20 FE and said that it will continue to release Fan Edition models every year. Its successor was expected to break cover in Q3 2021. However, it was made official in January 2021. Samsung fans who have been waiting for the arrival of the Galaxy S22 FE would be surprised to know that the company may have decided to cancel it.
A fresh report by Sammobile states that it has been found through multiple sources that the South Korean company will not be releasing the Galaxy S22 FE. Last year, the rumor mill started leaking a lot of information about the Galaxy S21 FE by June. However, there are no leaks about its successor.
The publication claimed that the Galaxy S22 FE was supposed to carry the SM-S900 model number. However, there is no evidence of the existence of this device, claims the publication. Hence, it seems that Samsung may not have any plans to launch Fan Edition models for the S22 series or for the S-series phones arriving in the future.
In April, there were rumors that Samsung could be using a MediaTek chip instead of an Exynos chip to power the Galaxy S22 FE. However, the rumor mill hasn’t revealed any more information about the device. Even if it exists, it is yet to be confirmed whether it will be a Fan Edition model or a different device.
At present, Samsung is reportedly working on its next-generation foldable phones: the Galaxy Z Fold4 and the Galaxy Z Flip4. These foldables are expected to debut in August along with the Galaxy Watch 5 and Watch 5 Pro models. It is advisable to wait for newer reports to see whether Samsung has any plans to release an affordable flagship phone on the market.
