According to renowned reverse software engineer Jane Manchun Wong, Facebook is currently working on a new feature which will adapt a user’s profile background color based on his/ her cover photo.
Facebook improves the adaptive color Profile background prototype, now:
– adapts based on cover photo rather than profile picture
– picks the nearest color from a preset rather than calculating the average, mitigates the “ugly” color issue

Previously, the adaptation was based on the user’s profile photo, but due to the poor resulting combination, the company has opted to adapt based on cover photos instead.
No doubt, this will be an interesting feature which will further brighten up a user profile which is otherwise pretty standard across all users.
At current stage, there is still no words on when this feature will be rolled out but it will usually be pushed out gradually across its user base.
