Honor 30 Series Could be Feature First Kirin 985 Phone

Honor 30 series of flagship phones will be breaking cover on April 15. The series will have the vanilla Honor 30 phone and the more advanced Honor 30 Pro. There are reports on the existence of Honor 30 Pro+. Initial rumors had claimed that the Honor 30 series will be powered by Kirin 990 5G. A new tweet from popular tipster, OnLeaks claims at least one of the Honor 30 series will be driven by the Kirin 985 chipset.

According to the tipster, the Kirin 985 chipset supports the usage of the largest image sensor in the mobile industry. He added that the chipset is expected to get announced on April 15. He also stated that at least one of the Honor 30 series could be driven by the new chipset.

Huawei Kirin SoC

Over the weekend, the EBG-AN00 phone was spotted on Geekbench. It is believed to be an Honor 30 series phone that could be equipped with a 40W charger. It is yet to be ascertained whether it is Honor 30 or Honor 30 Pro smartphone.

The EBG-AN00 is speculated to be fueled by Kirin 990 5G. The name of the processor is not mentioned in the Geekbench listing. The CPU architecture mentioned in the Geekbench listing matches with the Kirin 990 5G processor that powers the Huawei Mate Xs and Huawei P40 Pro. However, the base frequency of 1.8GHz mentioned on Geekbench differs from 1.95GHz that belongs to Kirin 990 5G. Hence, there is a possibility that it could be the unannounced Kirin 985 chipset.

There is a probability that the Honor 30 could be powered by the Kirin 985 chipset. The Honor 30 Pro and 30 Pro+ could be featuring the Kirin 990 chipset. It is advisable to wait for further reports to know more about the Honor 30 series.
