Honor 30 series made its official debut with a revolutionary camera system

After the OnePlus 8 series launch event yesterday, all eyes are now on the highly-anticipated Honor 30 smartphone series. Out of the three devices announced today, the Honor 30 Pro+ is definitely the most prominent and intriguing model among the trio.

Honor 30 Pro+ Specifications

No doubt, the headlining feature of the Honor 30 Pro+ will be its revolutionary triple-camera setup which is equipped with the latest Sony’s IMX700 sensor as its main camera. In fact, this is same sensor as the Huawei P40 Pro which offers 50 million effective pixels with RYYB color filter. Moreover, it is also capable of supporting AI RAW photos.

Moving on, there will also be a 16 megapixels ultra-wide lens which doubles up as a macro camera as well. This will be followed by an 8 megapixels telephoto lens which is capable of achieving up to 5x optical zoom, 10x hybrid zoom and as much as 50x digital zoom.

According to Honor, the Honor 30 Pro+ currently sits in the second position behind Huawei P40 Pro on DxOMark. This means that its camera system actually performs better than both the OPPO Find X2 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G based on the complex testings carried out by DxOMark.

At the front, the Honor 30 Pro+ features a 6.57-inches OLED dual-curved display with FHD+ screen resolution and a smooth 90Hz screen refresh rate. The dual hole-punched compartment on the front panel also houses a 32 megapixels selfie camera which will be assisted by an 8 megapixels ultra-wide lens. Moreover, there will also be an in-display fingerprint sensor as well.

Under the hood, the device will be driven by the flagship Kirin 990 platform which will allow the device to support both standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) 5G modes. This will be coupled with 8GB RAM and up to 256GB onboard storage space.

To keep its lights on, there will be a respectable 4,000mAh battery which supports up to 40W fast-charging and 27W wireless charging. It will run on the latest Magic UI 3.1 based on Android 10 (AOSP version).

In China, the Honor 30 Pro+ will be priced at 4,999 Yuan (US$708/ INR54,100) and 5,499 Yuan (US$779/ INR59,500) respectively for its 8GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB models.

The Honor 30 Pro shares almost entirely the same specs sheet as the Honor 30 Pro Plus except for its rear camera system, as well as its lack of support for 90Hz screen refresh rate and wireless charging.

Unlike the “Plus” model, the Honor 30 Pro will be equipped with a 40MP IMX600 sensor as its main camera instead. There will be no support for AI RAW photos on the Honor 30 Pro as well.

The Honor 30 Pro, will be priced at 3,999 Yuan (US$566/ INR43,300) and 4,399 Yuan (US$623/ INR47,600) respectively for its 8GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB models.

As expected, the Honor 30 will be the most affordable model in the entire lineup. It features a 6.53-inches OLED panel which has a FHD+ screen resolution and an integrated in-display fingerprint sensor. Its hole-punched compartment will be home to a single 32 megapixels selfie camera.

Over at the flip-side, the Honor 30 will sport a quad-camera setup comprising of a 40 megapixels main camera, 8 megapixels ultra-wide lens, 8 megapixels telephoto lens, as well as a 2 megapixels macro camera.

The Honor 30 is driven by a 5G-enabled Kirin 985 SoC which will be paired with up to 8GB RAM and 256GB onboard storage space. The device will maintain the same 4,000mAh battery with 40W fast-charging support. However, it will lack support for wireless charging.

The Honor 30 is priced at 2,999 Yuan (US$425/ INR32,500), 3,199 Yuan (US$453/ INR34,600) and 3,499 Yuan (US$495/ INR37,900) for its 6GB+128GB, 8GB+128GB and 8GB+256GB models respectively.
