The Onda V989 is a mid-range Android tablet released by Chinese manufacturer Onda back in August last year. The tablet rocks a 9.7″ IPS display powered by a 2GHz 8-cores chipset along with 2GB of RAM. Other key specs include a 32GB internal storage, microSD slot, 8MP rear camera, 2MP front camera, 8,000mAh battery as well as Android 4.4.2 KitKat running out of the box.
In the following tutorial, I will be guiding you guys on how to root Onda V989 in less than an hour.
Prerequisites before you begin rooting Onda V989
- Download the Rooting Kit to your PC.
- Make sure you have downloaded and installed the required driver on your PC.
- Make sure there is at least 80% battery left on your smartphone before begin rooting your device.
- Go to Settings > Security > Make sure you have checked on the Unknown Sources checkbox.
- Back up the Onda V989.
Follow the steps below on how to root Onda V989
- Connect theĀ Onda V989 to your PC using an appropriate USB cable.
- Open the Rooting Kit which you have downloaded earlier on.
- The file contains both the update.apk and ondaos_V989_Root.zip.
- Copy both this files over to the root of your device’s SD card.
- Open the file explorer app ( if you don’t have one on your device, then you may want to download either Astro File Manager / ES File Explorer ) and install the update.apk by tapping on its icon.
- Now, launch the application and select the Local Update option and then look for the ondaos_V989_Root.zip file on your device SD card.
- Once done, reboot your tablet.
- Congratulation! You’ve just rooted Onda V989!
