How to root Colorfly G718 using the Framaroot app

How to root Colorfly G718The Colorfly G718 is a mid-range Android tablet released by Chinese manufacturer Colorfly back in August last year. The tablet rocks a 6.98″ IPS display powered by a 1.7GHz 8-core chipset along with 1GB of RAM. Other key specs which accompany the device include a 16GB internal storage, microSD slot, 5MP rear camera, 2MP front-facing camera, 2,750mAh battery, as well as Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean running out of the box.

Like most other Android tablets, we can root Colorfly G718 rather easily as well. In the following tutorial, I will be guiding you guys on how to root Colorfly G718 using the Framaroot app.

Prerequisites before you begin rooting Colorfly G718

  1. Download the Framaroot apk to your PC.
  2. Make sure you have downloaded and installed the required driver on your PC.
  3. Make sure there is at least 80% battery left on your smartphone before begin rooting your device.
  4. Go to Settings > Security > Make sure you have checked on the Unknown Sources checkbox.
  5. Back up the Colorfly G718.

Follow the steps below on how to root Colorfly G718

  1. Connect the Colorfly G718 to your PC using an appropriate USB cable.
  2. Copy and paste the Framaroot apk from your PC over to the root of your device’s SD card.
  3. Open the file explorer app ( if you don’t have one on your device, then you may want to download either Astro File Manager / ES File Explorer ) and install the Framaroot apk by tapping on its icon.
  4. Open the Framaroot app on your Colorfly G718 smartphone.

  6. From the Select an exploit section, select the Boromir exploit. ( You can try Faramir or Barahir exploit if Boromir doesn’t work ).

  8. Reboot your device.
  9. Congratulation! You’ve just rooted Colorfly G718!
