Huawei P40 Pro is the new mobile photography king on DxOMark

Today, we finally have a new top-scorer on DxOMark in the field of mobile photography. This device is none other than the newly announced Huawei P40 Pro which has achieved an overall score of 128 points for it’s impressive camera performance.

Therefore, both the OPPO Find X2 Pro and Xiaomi Mi 10 Pro which were previously in the top position, will now slip to the second position instead.

Huawei P40 Pro Camera System

As a quick recap, the Huawei P40 Pro features a quad-camera setup that consists of a 50 megapixels “UltraVision” RYYB sensor as it’s main camera, along with another 40 megapixels ultra-wide cine lens dedicated for videography. There will also be a 12 megapixels RYYB periscope lens capable of achieving up to 5x optical zoom, as well as a ToF camera for depth sensing.

Based on the test summary published by DxOMark, the Huawei P40 Pro had performed incredibly well when it comes to Zooming, Exposure, Dynamic Range, as well as Autofocus. However, the score attained for it’s ultra-wide department is slightly underwhelming due to the 18mm focal length of it’s ultra-wide cine lens.

In fact, the Huawei P40 Pro’s main camera is touted by DxOMark as an ” excellent option for shooting in any condition, from challenging high-contrast scenes to very low light”.

The review also highlights the superior zooming capability on the P40 Pro, claiming that the photos are highly detailed and maintained a low noise levels across all tested zoom factors.

Courtesy of it’s AI RAW-powered super-resolution algorithm, the device is also able to capture stunning portrait shots with good object isolation, as well as excellent image details and dynamic range.

Of course, there are much more than what we’d mentioned here. If you’re interested, you can head down to this link for the complete review published by DxOMark.
