Back in April last year, the existence of the Meizu 17 smartphone had already been known after a poster with the slogan “meet the 5G new era, Meizu 17 is coming” was captured during the Unicom Partner Conference.
However, almost a year after it’s existence was confirmed, we still haven’t hear anything about it’s launch date. But today, things have finally changed. Meizu has finally confirmed on their Weibo microblog that the highly-anticipated Meizu 17 flagship will be officially announced in April.
Although no specific date was revealed, but it’s definitely better than no time frame at all. That being said, speculations remain rife that the Meizu 17 flagship could debut on April 22nd, the same date when the company announced the Meizu 15 flagship to commemorate their 15th anniversary.
As we already know, the upcoming Meizu 17th flagship will be the company’s first-ever 5G smartphone. It will be driven by the latest Snapdragon 865 SoC that will be coupled with a X55 modem that will allow the device to support both standalone (SA) and non-standalone (NSA) 5G modes.
Just like any other recently announced flagship phones, the Meizu 17 is also expected to arrive with a high screen refresh rate, LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 flash storage, 5G connectivity, Wi-Fi 6, as well as fast-charging support.
With the vast number of flagship devices already available in the current market, it remains to be seen whether Meizu will be able to make a comeback with their latest flagship.
