Several reports have claimed that Xiaomi is working on its next foldable phone, the Xiaomi MIX Fold 2. It is believed that the 22061218C model number, which was spotted in the database of Chinese certification platforms, could be the upcoming MIX Fold 2. Today, the Chinese manufacturer released an official confirmation that its next foldable phone will be made official at 7 pm (local time) on Aug. 11.
The launch date poster released by the company teases the design of the MIX Fold 2. Reports have revealed that it will be a lightweight device. The poster also confirms that the foldable phone will be equipped with Leica-optimized cameras.
According to a recent leak, the MIX Fold 2 will feature a Samsung AMOLED E5 external display, which may offer a 21:9 aspect ratio, a Full HD+ resolution of 2520 x 1080 pixels, and a 120Hz refresh rate. Opening the device will give access to its Samsung Eco² AMOLED display, which is said to consume 25 percent less power. The inner foldable display is also said to support a 120Hz refresh rate.
The device is said to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chipset. The TENAA certification of the device revealed that it will come in variants like 12 GB RAM + 512 GB and 12 GB RAM + 1 TB storage. For photography, it will feature an OIS-ready 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 main camera, a 13-megapixel camera, and a telephoto camera with 2x optical zoom.
The exact size of its battery is not known yet. However, its 3C certification has suggested that it may carry support for 67W fast charging. Apart from announcing the MIX Fold 2, the company will also take off the covers of the Xiaomi Buds 4 Pro TWS earbuds and the Snapdragon 870-powered Xiaomi Pad 5 Pro 12.4 tablet on Aug. 11.
