OnePlus seems to be preparing a major shift with its upcoming flagship, as per a leak shared by well-known tipster Digital Chat Station. While details are still unofficial, the leak outlines major design and display changes that mark a new chapter in the brand’s flagship evolution. The device in question is an upcoming OnePlus phone powered by the forthcoming Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 (SM8850) chip, which appears to be the OnePlus 15.
OnePlus 15 could mark the end of 2K curved displays
The above leaks suggest that the OnePlus 15 engineering prototype features a 6.78-inch flat LTPO screen with a 1.5K resolution. This would be a notable departure from the 2K curved screen used in the OnePlus 13, suggesting that the brand may be retiring high-resolution curved displays in favor of a flatter design.
The OnePlus 15’s display will adopt advanced LIPO packaging, allowing ultra-slim bezels and what’s described as physically symmetrical borders on all four sides. The visual effect is said to be comparable to the front design of Apple’s Pro iPhones.
For those unfamiliar, LIPO technology enables a compact layout for the display’s circuitry and driver components, which contributes to a neater edge appearance. Additionally, this setup improves stability and responsiveness in fast-motion use cases, such as gaming or high-speed scrolling.
The OnePlus 15 is also tipped to carry a 50-megapixel triple rear camera system with a periscope zoom lens, aimed at delivering versatile photography options. The overall aesthetic is expected to lean towards a minimalist and lightweight form factor, enhancing comfort during prolonged use. The OnePlus 15 is rumored to be among the first batch of phones featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 and is expected to debut in October 2025.
