OPPO Reno11 F 5G Review: A Fun & Capable Mid-ranger!

The OPPO Reno11 Pro 5G (Review) which I reviewed back in February this year is easily one of my favorite mid-range model which not only excels as a daily driver, but is also a perfect companion for all your entertainment and photography needs. However, its S$899 asking price may prove to be a bit too steep for those on a tighter budget. To tackle that, OPPO has recently unveiled a much more affordable model – Reno11 F 5G – that aims to offer the same amazing ”Reno” experience despite its lower price point.

On the outside, the new Reno11 F 5G is undeniably a gorgeous-looking smartphone especially for the Coral Purple model which debuts with an all-new ‘‘Magnetic Particle Design”, featuring an exhilarating wave-like shimmers and a premium glass-like polish on the rear side of the phone that makes the phone looks and feels more expensive than its actually is.

Unlike the rest of the Reno11 series smartphones, the Reno11 F 5G has a boxy appearance with flat edges and rounded corners. In fact, their differences extend to the rear camera layout whereby the Reno11 F 5G features a slightly larger rectangular-shaped island that houses a triple-camera array.

While the OPPO Reno11 F 5G is by no means a small device, it feels surprisingly light on hand, coming in at just 177 grams. That’s even lighter than the Reno11 Pro 5G (Review) which was already among the lightest smartphone I came across this year. However, don’t let its lightweight fool you. The Reno11 F 5G is a well-built device which even has IP65 rating for dust and water resistance.

On the front side, we’ll be greeted by a high-end 6.7” OLED display sporting a FHD+ screen resolution along with a sleek 120Hz refresh rate which promises sharp and smooth visuals when streaming videos or playing game. On top of that, it also scores well in terms of color accuracy thanks to its impressive 10-bit color depth support as well as 100% DCI-P3 color gamut coverage.

With a peak brightness that goes up to 1,100 nits, the screen can also get sufficiently bright whenever the situation calls for it. This helps to keep the screen legible even when you’re using the phone under bright daylight, which is something important for those who enjoy doing outdoor photography.

OPPO Reno11 F 5G: Performance & Battery Life

Under the hood, the OPPO Reno11 F 5G is powered by an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 7050 chipset which never fails to deliver smooth and stable performance in day-to-day use. In fact, you might be surprised that the phone also holds up remarkably well on more resource-demanding workload like mobile gaming, as long you keep the graphics setting to default.

This will be paired up with 8GB worth of RAM in the memory department which provides more than sufficient virtual memory for seamless multi-tasking on the device. And if you’re one of those who love to store plenty of photos and media contents on your smartphone, you’ll be glad to know that the Reno11 F 5G also has an extensive 256GB onboard storage space which can be further expanded via a microSD card.

Keeping its lights on is a large 5,000mAh battery that’s able to last throughout the day easily even with heavy usage. In the event that the battery runs out, the phone can be fully recharged in just around 50 minutes using the bundled 67W charging brick.

OPPO Reno11 F 5G: Cameras

Moving on to the photography side of things, the OPPO Reno11 F 5G features a total of three cameras at the back that include a 64 megapixels (f/1.7 aperture) main camera, an 8 megapixels (f/2.2 aperture) ultra-wide camera for landscape photography as well as a 2 megapixels macro camera for close-up photos.

While its true that the image sensor adopted by the main camera may be a small step down from the higher-end Reno11 Pro 5G, its still able to capture some really flattering photos with excellent dynamic range and details in most instances. Color accuracy are also pretty much on point, resulting in photos that look realistic rather than some overly processed bunch.

Despite the lack of a dedicated telephoto camera for zoomed shots, the phone is still able to capture decent-looking photos with 2x or 3x digital zooming thanks to the additional pixel counts on the main camera that helps to maintain image quality when photos are cropped digitally.

As for the ultra-wide camera, its another capable shooter that’s able to click social media-worthy photos with good amount of details and dynamic range in bright daylight. However, it does suffers a little when shooting under poor lighting, such as when taking photos of a night scene where it may be get a bit grainy especially when you peek into a specific spot.

OPPO Reno11 F 5G: Verdict

The OPPO Reno11 F 5G is no doubt a fun and capable smartphone that comes with many amazing features despite its low price point. As such, its definitely an ideal option for those looking for an affordable smartphone that serves well as a daily driver and photography companion.

For those who’re interested, the OPPO Reno11 F 5G is priced at just S$499 in Singapore and is available for purchase through OPPO Official Online Store, OPPO Concept Stores, OPPO Shopee, Lazada, Qoo10, and TikTok Online Flagship Stores, iShopChangi and KrisShop Online Store.
