Redmi K40 Pro to Sport Punch-Hole Display, Claims Leak

Redmi entered the flagship market by launching the Redmi K20 Pro last year. It offered a full screen experience as it came with a notch-less display and a pop-up selfie camera. Earlier this year, it was succeeded by the Redmi K30 Pro, which came the same display design. Fresh information reveals that the upcoming Redmi K40 Pro will sport a different display design.

According to tipster Sudhanshu Ambhore, he has claimed that he has learnt from his sources that the Redmi K40 Pro will not be featuring a pop-up selfie camera. Instead, it will have a punch-hole positioned at the top-left corner of the screen. He did not share any other information on the specs of the device. A leak from last month claimed that it will support a high refresh rate.

The launch of the Redmi K40 Pro could be a couple of months away as the company had unveiled the Redmi K30 5G in December 2019 and the K30 Pro in March this year. Hence, it is likely that the company may announce the Redmi K40 5G upper mid-range phone by the end of this year or early January. The K40 Pro may break cover in March next year.

It is unclear whether the vanilla K40 5G will also have a punch-hole design. Also, it is not clear whether it will be powered by the existing Snapdragon 750G or 765G SoC or a new Snapdragon 7-series chipset. As far as the K40 Pro is concerned, it is highly likely to draw power from the Snapdragon 888 5G mobile platform.

A new Xiaomi flagship with model number M2011K2C was recently certified by the 3C authority of China. Previous reports had claimed that it could be one of the first Redmi K40 series phone. However, it now seems that it could be the Snapdragon 888 powered Xiaomi Mi 11 series phone that may debut this month.
