Redmi Note 9 Series Could be Skipped in China

Xiaomi announced the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max smartphones in India. Redmi fans in China who saw the Redmi Note 9 series go official in India reached out to Redmi General Manager Lu Weibing to find out when the Redmi Note 9 series will be coming to the home market. His response suggests that the company may skip the launch of the Note 9 models in China

In the above screenshot, Weibing states that the Redmi Note 9 series is currently aimed towards markets outside of China. The company is now focused on 5G products and he has once again mentioned that the Redmi K30 Pro 5G flagship phone is coming soon. Redmi is unlikely any new phone in China before the arrival of the K30 Pro which is speculated to debut by the end of this month.

Weibing claims that the budget-friendly 4G-ready Redmi Note 9 is expected to sell in worldwide markets. If there would have been a 5G variant of the Redmi Note 9 series for China, he would have given out some hints.

There is a possibility that the company may skip the Redmi Note 9 series in China and directly launch the 5G-ready Redmi Note 10 models few months later in the year. The 10th anniversary Redmi phone could be the brand’s 5G handset.

Previously, Xiaomi had launched the Redmi Note 6 smartphone was made available in India, but it was skipped in China. The Chinese firm had launched the Redmi Note 7 series after the Note 5 models. Hence, the Redmi Note 9 series could be skipped in China.
