Samsung has sold more than 400,000 Galaxy Fold so far

During the Consumers Electronics Show (CES) 2020, President and CEO of Samsung’s IT & Mobile Communication division, DJ Koh had revealed that the company has sold between 400,000 to 500,000 Galaxy Fold smartphones this year.

This came after President and Chief Strategy Officer of Samsung Electronics, Young Sohn inaccurately announced the TechCrunch’s Disrupt event in Berlin that the company had sold one million Galaxy Fold smartphones.

According to reports, the bulk of these devices sold came from South Korea, United States and China. In China, the Galaxy Fold was reportedly sold out during the first few round of sales.

Currently, Samsung is the sole provider for foldable smartphones in the global market. Although the Huawei Mate X had already been launched, but it’s availability is only limited to the Chinese market.

This year, Samsung will be introducing the Galaxy Fold 2 which is said to come with a more palatable price point below $1,000 as they aim to improve the adoption rate for foldable phones.

If nothing goes wrong, the Galaxy Fold 2 could be announced during the upcoming Unpacked event held on February 11th.
