Currently, Huawei P30 Pro stood out as the best smartphone when it comes to the zooming capability among smartphone cameras. However, it may be just a matter of time before the P30 Pro loses it’s pole position in this category as more and more Chinese smartphone makers are catching up with new innovative technologies to bridge the gap.
Xiaomi is definitely one of them. According to the folks at xda-developers who’d spent hours crawling through the source code of MIUI 11’s camera app, they have discovered a line of code which reads “Tele 5X”. This is a strong hint that one of Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship device 5X optical zoom mode for it’s camera.
Furthermore, further digging into the code base also revealed a new “ultra tele” feature which has a description which reads “use 50X zoom to capture distant objects in greater detail” – which surely refers to the digital zooming of the device.
At current stage, we’ve yet to hear anything about this upcoming Xiaomi device, but it’s highly likely it will debut with the same 108MP Samsung ISOCELL Bright HMX sensor which we saw on the newly announced Mi Mix Alpha.
Whatever it is, this device will certainly pose a serious threat to the current Huawei P30 Pro and OPPO Reno 10x Zoom. The question is, will it be able to really topple the P30 Pro off it’s podium?
