A new Samsung smartphone with SM-N960F model number was certified by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) agency in the U.S. It could be the Galaxy Note 9 because the SM-N950 model number belongs to the Galaxy Note 8 smartphone from last year.
To be more precise, the SM-N960F seems to be a variant meant for Europe and Australia since SM-N950F Galaxy Note 8 were released in these countries. The U.S. variant of the Galaxy Note 9 may have a model number of SM-N960. It is likely that the U.S. edition of the upcoming Samsung phablet may bag FCC certification later this month or in early July.
Since SM-N960F is a non-U.S. edition of the Galaxy Note 9, it is likely to feature the Exynos 9810 SoC. The FCC documents also reveal that dual SIM variant SM-N960FDS and SM-N960X have also been approved by the FCC. The latter variant could be heading to Asian countries.
Recent reports have revealed that the Galaxy Note 9 won’t be coming with major upgrade in the design over the Note 8 smartphone. This has become all the more evident because Samsung had applied for FCC’s approval for Note 9 in April which suggests that the design of the phone was ready by the month.
Rumors have it that the Galaxy Note 9 will be made official on Aug. 9. It is expected to arrive with specs like 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Infinity Display, SD845 / Exynos 9810 SoC, 6 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage and 3,780mAh battery. It is likely that there could be a 512 GB variant with 8 GB of RAM.
