Huawei P40 series may arrive cheaper than the current P30 lineup

For the past few weeks, we’d heard quite a lot about the upcoming Huawei P40 flagship series. These of course, include the official renders of the P40 Pro and P40 Pro Premium.

Today, prominent tipster @RODENT950 has shed some light on the pricing of this highly-anticipated smartphone series as well. According to him, the P40 series smartphones are expected to be relatively cheaper than the current P30 devices.

In his predictions, the vanilla P40 model is slated to cost around €600 (US$660), while the highest-end model known as P40 Pro Premium, is likely to cost €1,000 (US$1,100). Based on this estimations, the P40 Pro should also be in the ballpark of €800 (US$880).

This will equate to a €200 (US$220) price reduction when compared to the current P30 and P30 Pro which were tagged with a launch price of €800 and €1,000 respectively last year.

It is widely believed that the price of the P40 smartphone series will be slashed due to the omission of licensed Google Play apps and services on the devices due to the ongoing US trade ban.

Editors’ Pick

Despite the cheaper price tag, the P40 devices will still be touting a swathe of headlining features this time round. Most of these exciting features will however be exclusive to the P40 Pro Premium model.

From what we’d learned so far, the P40 Pro Premium will arrive with a penta-camera setup comprising of a periscope camera that is capable of achieving up to 10x optical zoom.

As usual, the P40 smartphone series will go heads on with the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S20 flagship series – which is also expected to see significant upgrades that are comparable to the P40 series.
